How it works

01Before the date
Sort it out in the app.
The part every other dating app stops at. It is over quickly.
Create an account
Email, a name, a photo, a town, a line about yourself.
Match
A deck of other adults, filtered by what you are each after.
Agree a time
One of you asks the other out and picks when.
02Getting there
Open the Date Room, join the server.
Then stop doing things. The rest happens on its own.

You are moved into a private world. No code, no command, no invite.
03The evening
Play, then decide what happens next.
The server runs it. You just turn up.
Play
It sets each activity up, runs it, keeps score, and moves you on.
Head back, or leave
Return to the Date Resort, or either of you can leave at any point.
Say how it went
Two private questions. The other person never sees your answers.
What you actually do
Twenty things to do together.
Fifteen cooperative, five with a winner. Five to thirty minutes each, so an evening is three or four of them. Tap any of them.

Strictly 18 and over
Every account confirms a date of birth. We do not use third-party age verification, and we do not pretend to.
Block and unmatch work immediately
From the conversation, without explaining yourself, and without them being told which you chose.
Your town, never your address
Distance is shown rounded to whole kilometres. Nothing puts you on a map.
A person reads every report
Not a queue nobody empties. Reports about somebody under 18 are treated as urgent.

- What actually is DateSMP?
- A dating service for adults where the date happens inside Minecraft. You match with somebody, agree a time, and a private world opens for the two of you with activities in it: questions round a campfire, a build battle, a snowball fight. The idea is that doing something together tells you more than a week of texting does.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Creating an account, matching, planning a date and playing one cost nothing, and there is no limit on how many people you can meet. We cover the running costs ourselves at the moment.
- Do I need Minecraft?
- For the date, yes: Java or Bedrock, either works, on one server. You can make an account, fill in a profile and start matching without it, and you only need it when somebody says yes.
- Do I need a microphone?
- No, voice is optional. It is offered on every date and plenty of people prefer it, but plenty of good evenings happen in text. It stays off until you turn it on, it is peer to peer between the two of you, and it is not recorded.
- Is DateSMP 18+?
- Yes. DateSMP is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. You confirm your date of birth before the app will do anything, and an account reported as belonging to somebody under 18 is locked while a person reviews it. We do not use a third-party age or identity verification service.
- Can other people watch?
- No. A date world has exactly two players in it and closes when you are done. There is no spectating, no group rooms and no audience.
