Cookies

Almost everything DateSMP stores is what it takes to sign you in and keep you there. The one optional thing is analytics, which is off until you say otherwise and is the only reason there is a banner at all.

DateSMP has not launched publicly yet.

The operating business is being registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, so this document does not yet name it. Everything else here is accurate and applies to the service as it runs today. The identifying details land on the legal information page the moment the registration completes.

Why there is a banner, and why it is short

A cookie banner exists to obtain consent for storage that is not necessary to provide the service you asked for. Article 11.7a of the Telecommunicatiewet, which implements the ePrivacy Directive in Dutch law, exempts storage that is strictly necessary from that requirement. Nearly everything DateSMP stores is exempt, and we do not ask about any of it.

The exception is Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people actually use and where they get stuck. That is useful to us and not necessary to you, so it is off until you turn it on. Nothing analytics-related is stored, and the script is not even fetched, before you agree. Rejecting takes exactly one click, the same as accepting, on the same screen.

We do not use advertising pixels, session recorders, heat maps or anything that follows you to another site, whatever you answer.

What is stored

datesmp_session: Cookie · necessary · up to 14 days
Keeps you signed in. Set when you use a sign-in link, cleared when you sign out. It is HttpOnly, which means no script, ours or anybody else's, can read it.
Push subscription: Browser storage · necessary · until you turn it off
Created only if you switch notifications on, and removed when you switch them off or sign out. It lets your browser receive a signal from us; it carries no content.
Service worker: Browser storage · necessary · until you turn notifications off
A small script that receives notifications while the site is closed. It caches nothing and stores nothing about you.
Analytics (Google Analytics): Cookies · optional · up to 2 years · off unless you allow it
Which pages are opened and in what order, so we can tell a page nobody uses from one nobody can find. Your IP address is truncated and never stored in full, and no event we send carries your name, your email, your messages or anybody you matched with. Nothing is loaded until you agree, and .

The answer you gave the banner. Necessary because the alternative is asking you again on every page, and it never leaves your device.

Cookies other people set

If you donate, the payment provider sets what it needs to process the payment and prevent fraud. That happens on their page under their policy, and we do not receive it. Nothing else on DateSMP is served by a third party.

Turning them off

Your browser can block or delete all of it. Blocking the session cookie means you cannot stay signed in, which makes the account half of DateSMP unusable. That is the trade, and it is why the cookie is called necessary rather than useful.

Analytics is the one thing here you can switch off without breaking anything: . Turning it off stops the script loading and clears the permission; there is no separate opt-out to chase.

Notifications are the other genuinely optional item, and they live behind a switch in Privacy rather than in your browser settings. What we do with everything else is in the privacy policy.
