Community guidelines
DateSMP is a small place where adults meet strangers. That only works if the rules are clear and somebody actually enforces them. These are the rules, and we do.
Last updated 1 September 2026.
DateSMP has not launched publicly yet.
The operating business is being registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, so this document does not yet name it. Everything else here is accurate and applies to the service as it runs today. The identifying details land on the legal information page the moment the registration completes.
The one rule
Treat the person on the other side as a person. Almost everything below follows from that, and if something is not listed but obviously breaks it, it breaks it.
Never. These end an account.
- Being under 18, or seeking anybody who is. Any sexual interest in minors ends the account immediately and is reported to the authorities.
- Sexual content involving anybody who has not agreed to it, including unsolicited explicit images. Nobody on DateSMP has agreed to receive one.
- Threats, stalking, or sharing somebody's private information. Including passing on their address, workplace, real name or photographs outside DateSMP.
- Hate. Attacking anybody for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Scams and money. Asking members for money, investment schemes, cryptocurrency, or luring people to another platform to be defrauded.
- Pretending to be somebody else, including using photographs that are not of you.
Do not. These get an account restricted or closed.
- Push after a no. Once is a question, repeated is harassment. This applies to meeting up, to voice, and to anything else.
- Use DateSMP to sell, promote or recruit. Including your stream, your server and your side project.
- Record or screenshot a private conversation, voice call or photograph and put it anywhere else.
- Grief the date. Destroying somebody's build, exploiting the world or deliberately ruining an evening is the in-game version of being unpleasant, and it is treated the same way.
- Turn up drunk enough to be a problem, or use a date to abuse somebody.
- Create a second account after being closed or blocked.
Photographs
Must be of you, must have your face in at least the first one, and must not be sexual. Nudity, underwear shots and anything explicit are removed. Photographs of children, including your own, are not allowed on a dating profile at all.
Reporting somebody
You can report from a profile, from inside a conversation, from a date, or from your blocked list. It is confidential: the person is never told who reported them, and it takes about fifteen seconds.
What to include
Whatever the report screen asks for, plus anything in your own words. The specific message or moment helps a great deal; “they were creepy” is a real report and we will act on it, but it takes longer.
If you are not a member
Write to safety@datesmp.com. You do not need an account to tell us about something on DateSMP, and this address is also our point of contact for authorities under the Digital Services Act.
If somebody is in danger
Call your local emergency number first. Then tell us, and we will preserve what we hold and cooperate with the police.
What happens after a report
A person reads it, and nothing is decided by a model. Depending on what we find we may do nothing, warn the account, restrict what it can do, lock it while we look further, or close it.
One thing happens without us. An account reported as underage by three different people is locked automatically while we check, because waiting for one of us to wake up is not an acceptable delay for that particular report. It is a hold and not a verdict: a person still reviews it, and the account holder can ask us to.
We tell you when we have finished, though not always what we decided: telling one member the outcome for another is itself a privacy problem, and it is a route to retaliation. Blocking somebody is always available and always immediate, whatever we decide.
If we got it wrong
Decisions about your own account are explained to you, and you can reply to safety@datesmp.com and have a person look again. We would rather reverse a bad call than defend it.
These guidelines form part of the terms of use. The practical side (blocking, and what to do before meeting somebody) is in the safety centre.
Questions about this document go to privacy@datesmp.com. Everything else is on the contact page.
