Donations and refunds
DateSMP sells nothing. A donation is a gift towards the running costs, not a payment for anything, which changes what you are entitled to, so it is worth being plain about.

DateSMP has not launched publicly yet.
The operating business is being registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, so this document does not yet name it. Everything else here is accurate and applies to the service as it runs today. The identifying details land on the legal information page the moment the registration completes.
What a donation is
Money towards server bills, domains and the time it takes to build this. It is voluntary, it is not a subscription, and it does not renew unless you choose a recurring one and can cancel it whenever you like.
It buys nothing, and that is deliberate: there is no badge, no donor tier and no reward. Anybody who has donated is shown to exactly the same people, in exactly the same order, as anybody who never has: no boost, no priority, no seeing who liked you. We are sincerely grateful to people who help, and grateful is all they get.
Your rights
Because a donation is a gift rather than the purchase of goods or services, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal in EU consumer law does not strictly apply. We do not think that is a good reason to keep money somebody did not mean to send, so:
- Within 14 days, ask and we will refund it. No reason needed and no questions asked.
- After 14 days, write to us anyway. If the money has not already gone on a server bill we will usually still refund it.
- A payment you did not make is refunded in full whenever you tell us, and we would like to know so we can look at how it happened.
- A recurring donation can be cancelled at any time and stops at the end of the current period. We do not refund periods already used unless you ask and have a reason.
How to ask
Write to support@datesmp.com from the address you donated from, or tell us the date and amount. We answer within a few days and refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within five working days once we have started them.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account does not automatically refund a donation, because the two are not connected. You gave money to the project, not for access to it. Ask separately if you want it back.
What we keep
Dutch tax law requires us to keep records of money received for seven years, so a donation record outlives a deleted account. It contains the amount, the date and the reference from the payment provider. We never see or store your card details. The privacy policy covers the rest.
Tax
DateSMP is not a registered charity and donations are not tax deductible. If a donation turns out to be subject to VAT we account for it ourselves; you are never charged extra.
